Viziant taxonomy expert to speak at Enterprise Search Summit
Viziant Corporation's information taxonomist, Heather Hedden, will be
speaking at the May 20-21
Enterprise Search Summit
conference in New York. Her presentation "Taxonomy-Powered Discovery: Who Says
You Need an Expert" is one of a select few presentations on the integration of
taxonomy and search.
Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, May 20, Heather will discuss how a taxonomy
supports not only search but also discovery. She will also explain how taxonomy
enhancement in a sophisticated algorithm-based discovery tool, such as
Viziant's, does not necessarily require the expertise of a taxonomist.
Well-designed base taxonomies that serve as examples, an easy-to-use interface,
and sufficient documentation and training can enable select non-taxonomists
to maintain and grow an organizations taxonomies.
In its fourth year, Enterprise Search Summit is a highly intense, in-depth,
two-day conference that covers how to develop, implement and enhance
cutting-edge internal search capabilities. The emphasis for Enterprise Search
Summit 2008 is on extending search, as search becomes not just an application
but a major computing platform.
